Rule No. 1
This server is a safe place for Black People. As such you must be Black to join. This space is also invitation only. If you have a friend you'd like to invite, email us at: [email protected]

Rule No. 2.
This is a space where all forms of Blackness will be honored and respected.Treat others with kindness and respect. No hate speech, harassment, misogynoir, misandry, homophobia, transphobia or personal attacks will be tolerated. Keep your weird shit away from this community.

Rule No. 3.
DO NOT STEAL ANYONE'S WRITING. Everyone here has received a copy of our non-disclosure agreement. If you violate it, we will kick yo ass out. The End.

Rule No. 4.
Respect others’ privacy and refrain from sharing private conversations without consent. Again, everyone in this group is held to the non-disclosure agreement that was sent out. If you don’t agree, we'll be happy to issue a refund for any events you were registered for and remove you from the server.

Rule No. 5.
Follow instructions from Admins & Mods. Their decisions are made with the safety of our community in mind. If you feel you have been treated poorly in this space, please contact us at [email protected] to appeal.

Rule No. 6.
Abide by Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Any content or behavior that violates these rules will result in appropriate action.

Rule No. 7.
Trigger Warnings: If the piece you’re sharing is sexual in nature or needs a trigger warning, please give it prior to sharing your piece. Different subject matters are welcome in this space but let us know in advance. It will allow other community members to choose if they want to engage.

Rule No. 8.
You can offer critique on written work (if they asked for it) but don't berate people. Don't judge other people's hard work. It's just not cool, unless they hire you to edit for them. It's not your job to judge their writing.

Rule No. 9.
It is not mandatory to share your work in this space. Feel free to engage with us on a level that is most comfortable for you.

Rule No. 10.
Use Channels Appropriately: Post content in the appropriate channels. Each channel has a specific purpose, so please respect their intended use.

Rule No. 11.
No Spamming: Please avoid excessive posting of messages, images, or links. Spamming disrupts the flow of conversation and can be annoying to others.

Rule No. 12.
Stay On Topic: Keep discussions relevant to the channels you’re in. Off-topic conversations should be taken to the appropriate channel or a designated off-topic section like The Lobby.

Rule No. 13.
Authors may promote their books, blogs, zines and newsletters one time a day for FREE. Please post your book advertisements on the channel labeled Book Promotions under the Promotions Category. If you would like to advertise your book(s) multiple times a day you must pay for promo. If you spam other channels, we will remove you from the server. If you would like to be advertised on our Threads page for free on Fridays, you can sign up at the We Be Promoting Channel. To purchase a promo package email us at: [email protected]

Rule No. 14.
Literary Services can be advertised on this server for a fee. We define literary services as any service that is done for an author in support of their writing. Such services include book cover design, website development, editing, proofreading, user generated content and similar services. These services can be advertised in our community for a fee. You can advertise your literary services on the channel labeled Literary Service Promotion under the Promotion Category. Packages start as low as $13.50per week. If you would like to purchase a promotion package contact us at: [email protected]. If you aren’t sure if your offering falls under a service email us or DM Faheemah (griotbae). If you post book service advertisements without paying for promotion your ad will be removed. If you repeat the offense that is grounds for removal.

Rule No. 15.
When you attend a We Be Writing Event, your cameras should be on – this is a safe space for us. As such, to hold the container of energy, it’s important for us to be looking at each other. So we politely ask that you turn your camera on when we have our zoom events. If you cannot do this, email us at [email protected].

Rule No. 16.
If you witness any violations of these rules, report them to server admins/mods immediately. Your cooperation helps maintain a positive and welcoming community

Rule No. 17.
To maintain the sacred nature of our community, membership to this Discord server is by invitation only, and all members must be vetted. Sharing your invitation link is strictly prohibited. If you know someone interested in joining, please have them contact me directly at [email protected].
